Luke Honey’s WEEKEND FLICKS.
Cinema for Grown Ups.
Fed up with Social Media? Cute cats gone bad? Angry people shouting at each other in multi-storey carparks? Attractive doctors popping gruesome blackheads? Endless sunsets over endless beaches, brain-dead pouting selfies and tiresome self-promotion?
Well, that’s where this newsletter comes in. Join me, instead, for intelligent film recommendations. Cinematic nirvana in two weekend newsletters. A feel-good Double Bill. I send out the first newsletter on Friday mornings. That’s for the ‘paid-for’ subscribers (£5 a month, or £50 a year). The second newsletter arrives on your screen, Sunday mornings. That’s the one for both ‘paid-for’ subscribers and free subscribers. But a ‘paid-for’ subscription also gives you access to the entire archive and the right to comment.
So two recommended films to download and watch over the weekend (or as Nancy Mitford might have said, ‘The Friday to Monday’)— or otherwise readily available to buy on DVD or Blu-Ray.
You may not always agree with my filmic observations, but I can guarantee you one thing. It won’t be boring. And it’s going to be fun.
