I liked it- even if the critics didn't. Incidentally, I have that Pan paperback- terrific cover. Patricia Highsmiths in Pan well worth collecting, if a tad expensive.
I must admit I disregarded this upon release due to the critical mauling it received. Perhaps I’ll give it a go though. I also found out that Adrian Lyne went to school in Highgate, North London which I’m sure has no interest to anyone but me as I’m local. I came across this information while reading about Dreyer’s film masterpiece The Passion of Joan of Arc (I basically fell down a Wikipedia rabbit hole). What I came her to say though was thank you for this piece, I will endeavour to watch it!
I thought I’d pop back just to say I enjoyed Deep Water! It’s not as camp as I thought it might be but the performances were good and I really enjoyed the plot. Beautiful shot too!
Thanks for this. I think I've seen it three times now? Ana's fab. Lovely location work- the ending (in the ravine) is slightly dodgy, perhaps- but it's a worthy addition to the WEEKEND FLICKS. and Patricia Highsmith archive. Grown up too.
